CHIP ROTH

I bring a vast network and critical experience to helping businesses, educational institutions and nonprofit organizations achieve key goals. Developing strategy to pursue business success is at the core of my firm’s (Roth & Associates) consulting work. Below is an overview of my extensive career experiences and how this helps entities and organizations achieve goals.

Serving our country – President Barack Obama appointed Chip to a leadership position in the US Small Business Administration. Serving as a Senior Advisor for Communications, he helped lead this cabinet-level agency’s approach to helping small business owners raise the capital that is so often essential for success. Chip was also appointed by the Governor of North Carolina to serve on the state’s Employment Security Commission, which sets unemployment compensation policy, and to the Workforce Development Board.

Confronting Covid-19 – Chip is a reliable provider of PPE items to hospitals, government agencies, schools and businesses. This includes critically-needed nitrile gloves, ventilator masks, surgical gowns and other items to protect front-line health care workers and public servants, including a Greensboro dental practice. Chip is also helping Veritas, the $2.6 billion data management leader, launch a technology-based approach to dealing with the coronavirus. When all employees or students wear special wristbands, a cloud-based system provides a dashboard that tracks everyone’s body temperature in real time. Alerts prompt health professionals to quickly approach someone with a fever and contain the spread of the virus. Data tools provide the most accurate and complete contract tracing reports available anywhere.

Spurring Business Development – Chip has advised many companies – big and small – on business development strategy and capital development. He is a Business Development Advisor to a NYC-based equity firm, NDH Capital. This strong relationship allows him to access resources that bring success to public-private partnerships, educational needs and business concerns. Chip has presented this funding option to leaders of NC A&T University in Greensboro. He also has relationships with a wide variety of other firms that will be available to bring financing options to key Greensboro projects.

Pursuing Economic Development Opportunity – Chip is helping Lehigh Hanson win approval for opening a new quarry near Greensboro. This will make the area more competitive for economic opportunity. Currently Greensboro has the highest construction costs of any North Carolina city. For example, Greensboro and Guilford County taxpayers are currently paying 25% more for road construction than NC’s other major cities. Construction costs often drive a city’s ability to attract business and create good new jobs. Much of the cost of construction is rooted in the price of aggregate – the stone that is ground to make concrete, drywall and many other key items. Chip’s goal is to introduce new aggregate price competition that will bring construction costs down.

Launching Business Strategy Initiatives – Chip helped a national company develop a relationship with the US Veterans Administration. This initiative focused on creating jobs for disabled veterans. Chip’s approach also led the company to develop an apprenticeship program that included hiring students from Guilford County Community College. Separately, Chip helped VF Corp. when it was headquartered in Greensboro. Chip used his vast international network and negotiating skills to help VF lead efforts to improve workplace safety in Bangladesh and in other countries.
