MEET CHIP ROTH
FAMILY
The most important thing you need to know about me is that I am the husband of Denise Turner Roth.
Denise was a highly successful community leader, serving as Greensboro’s city manager from 2012 to 2014. This is why President Obama selected her to direct the federal government’s largest agency, the General Services Administration (GSA). In this role, she managed 13,000 employees and more than $150 billion in funds each year.
Denise and I are a strong team. I will build on her national and City experience to help me serve the people of Greensboro. Denise is committed to helping me create a New Greensboro. We are both dedicated to building a city where economic development and prosperity provides opportunities for all people throughout the city.
While Denise was the Chief of the GSA, I was also appointed by President Obama as a Senior Advisor for the Small Business Administration. Following our terms in the Obama Administration, we made the choice, as a family, “to come back home.” We are not originally from Greensboro, but we fell in love with this city while we lived here. We wanted our son, Connor, to know the incredible quality of life that Greensboro offers, as well as how to make a real difference in our community. Denise is currently an executive with a global engineering consulting firm where she leads advisory services.
My consulting firm, Roth & Associates, has clients I am honored to serve. It is exciting to note that my work includes promoting economic development opportunities for Greensboro. Through my strategic client service, I have worked on matters ranging from creating employment training programs and growing business offerings to addressing food desserts. I am very active as a Board of Trustees member of my church. My faith is vitally important to me, and I have a devout commitment to give back to the city that I love.
Connor is in 5th grade and thriving at Greensboro Day School. He loves soccer, and plays for both his school team and for one of NC Fusion’s traveling teams. Connor is also an incredible Lego builder. We have converted our dining room into an area where he can display his Lego projects.
Another member of our family is a kind, loving golden retriever, border collie mix, named Captain, who enjoys our daily hikes around the lake. I call these my “gratitude” walks because I purposefully remind myself of all the wonderful experiences that I am having in my life. I love my beautiful wife who is an incredible Mom to our amazing boy. We are very happy to call Greensboro “home.”
Denise and I have worked hard, and we make no apologies for our success. Now, we are called upon to give back to Greensboro. It is time for me to help create economic opportunity for all the people of our amazing community. I can best do this with your help, by creating a New Greensboro, by serving on the City Council.
